About the Program

1 in 7 kids go to school without the most important meal of the day

A good breakfast can not only change a child’s morning it can make a big difference to their future. Unfortunately 1 in 7 Australian children arrive at school each day without having had breakfast (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2013).

The School Breakfast Clubs program is an initiative of the Victorian Government in partnership with Foodbank Victoria. The program will deliver healthy breakfast foods to 500 of the most disadvantaged primary schools across Victoria, reaching approximately 25,000 vulnerable children and their families. It commenced in Term 1, 2016 and enables children to enjoy a nutritious breakfast, allowing them to engage and participate fully in all the educational and social opportunities that the school years offer.

The Victorian Department of Education and Training have confirmed the 500 schools that will be participating in the program during 2016. Please click here to view the full list or you can see where the schools are located on the map below.
