Our School Breakfast Clubs program reached a major milestone recently – 2 million breakfasts served!

Thanks to the State Government, Foodbank Victoria is tackling hunger and improving learning in the classroom. We know that one in seven children go to school hungry, and teachers report that students can lose two hours of learning time each day as a result.

We’re now feeding healthy breakfasts to 10,000 students a day in 500 of the most disadvantaged primary schools across Victoria.

A report looking at year one of the program (2016) has revealed that of the teachers or schools surveyed:DSC_3384

  • 91% reported improved concentration
  • 83% reported improved social skills
  • 81% reported greater engagement in class activities
  • 79% reported improved academic outcomes

And with more schools embedding the program on more days this year, we can’t wait to see the impact going forward.
