Rural Support
Rural Community Support Program
The Rural Community Support Program was initiated in early 2008
to improve and assist welfare relief efforts in country areas.
There are dedicated Rural Community Support Officers working
within every region of rural Victoria to:
Increase the amount of food available for emergency relief;
Improve the storage capacity and distribution of food within the
region;
Create partnerships and collaborations to share and maximise
limited resources;
Support emergency relief efforts;
Increase the local volunteer base to assist in emergency
relief;
Tap in to Foodbank Victoria’s vast state-wide network to
increase the amount of food distributed in regional areas;
Distribute excess regional produce to other parts of the state
where it is needed most.

Harvest and our Community
FoodShare intiative to improve the volume and quality of
food made available to rural and regional Victoria for emergency
relief and to further engage the local community in ER efforts.If
